The sivilian version of the FN SCAR was released in 2009 as the SCAR 16s. This review is about the originally releaced 16s SCAR in FDE ( Flat Dark Earth ). The gun was again released in 2010 in black. I got a good deal on the FDE and that's what I wanted any way so Ill stick with this one!

This project will just be an accesssorized SBR ( Short Barreld Rifle ) version of the standard 16s SCAR. Ill review the gun and accessories in this section. The EGLM device will be a clone of the FN unit and will probably be a 37mm flair gun only.

The FN EGLM 40mm grenade launcher is pretty much a military/law enforcement only item. Some exceptions may apply like dealer samples and "destructive devices" but typically you can't get one as a civilian. What I want is something for looks and a bit of function. So I plan to make a 37mm civilian legal, flair launcher version of the FN EGLM grenade launcher. My EGLM will be a basic 37mm tube and firing mechanism inside of a replica EGLM meant for an air gun. It should clip right onto the bottom rail of the SCAR with the quick detach leavers. Ill replace the FCG with metal parts and the barrel tube with a metal 37mm ID tube. It should work pretty much like the original, opening outward to either side. This FN EGLM 37mm grenade launcher is pretty much just for fun! I can use the 12 gauge insert for it and fire 12 gauge flairs and noise makers.

This thing will look cool on display and be allot of fun on the 4th of July! I will also get the stand alone, EGLM stock and grip unit so the grenade launcher can be used on its own.

This should be fairly straight forward. I want this gun to be an SBR CQC/CQB version of the SCAR. I will post all the specs for this work and pics of the barrel after it its cut down and working. It will need to be cut to length, re-crowned and threaded as well as the gas "selector" ported. This will let more gas flow though the gas block and allow the gun to operate with the shorter barrel length. I want to change the flash hider out for the military SCAR CQC flash hider with the external threading for a suppressor.

The new threading is 1/2x28. Total barrel length will be 10" ( maybe 10.5" to allow for some silencers that don't recommend use under 10.4" ) The chrome lining on these barrels is somewhat delicate and will require some extra care when cutting and re crowning.
